An open-source festival compass — a palm-sized round-screen puck that points at your friends over LoRa mesh, with off-grid messaging, live set times, and a vector map of the grounds. Your phone stays at camp.
A hardware product built 0→1 in public: custom ESP32-S3 firmware with six faces — radar, lineup, off-grid inbox, flare, map, and settings — behind a compass-ring launcher, hardware-verified on the real board. A Meshtastic client library carries crew positions and messages over LoRa mesh with no network required, and festival data ships as open "festpack" files. First field test: Lost Lands 2026.
- Designed and built the product 0→1 in public — firmware, hardware bring-up, and product design
- Built six on-device faces for a round display: radar compass, live lineup, off-grid T9 inbox, flare, vector map, settings
- Wrote a Meshtastic client library for crew positions & messaging over LoRa mesh — no network required
- Created fest-almanac, an open festival-data format ("festpacks") powering the lineup and map
- Built a dev harness with a control socket, dockerised mesh node & end-to-end tests
